AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of South Carolina Aiken
men's soccer players Chinedu Arinze and Chevy Augustine were
both tabbed to the 2011 Peach Belt Conference Men's Soccer
All-Conference Team on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011.
The league office announced the All-Conference selections at a
banquet on Friday afternoon in advance of the 2011 Peach Belt
Conference Men's Soccer Championship at Blanchard Woods Park
in Evans, Ga.
The 2011 All-Conference team was selected by the league's
head coaches. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own
players.
Arinze was named a First-Team defender, while Augustine was
chosen to the Second-Team as a defender.
Arinze concluded his junior season by starting in 14 of USC
Aiken's matches. He was tied for second among all Pacers in
the 2011 season with six points on two goals and two assists.
The junior defender scored his first goal of the year in USC
Aiken's 4-1 win over Pfeiffer on Sept. 2. He also scored in
USC Aiken's 2-2 tie with St. Andrews on Oct. 26.
Arinze (Stone Mountain, Ga./Georgia State) picked up the assist in
USC Aiken's 1-1 ties with Lenoir-Rhyne and UNC Pembroke.
A junior, Augustine started 16 matches for the Pacers in the 2011
season. He finished the year having taken six shots.
As a sophomore in 2010, Augustine (Gouyave, Grenada/TA Marryshow)
was chosen to the Peach Belt Conference All-Tournament Team.
Flagler's Johan Bergfeld was named the PBC Player of the
Year, while UNC Pembroke's Sam Miles was tabbed the
conference's Freshman of the Year. Flagler head coach John
Lynch was named the Coach of the Year.
In all, 24 players were named to the All-Conference team. The
number was increased by two due to ties in the voting.
