AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken men's
basketball player Sterling Council was named the South Carolina
Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of
the Week on Nov. 21, 2011.
Council came off the bench to average 15 points, 3.5 assists and
3.0 rebounds per game for the Pacers in their first two games of
the year.
Council shot 40 percent (9-of-20) from the field on the week. He
hit upon 83.3 percent (10-of-12) of his free throw attempts.
In USC Aiken's season-opening win over Voorhees at the
Convocation Center on Wednesday, Nov. 16, Council (Camden,
S.C./Camden) finished with 11 points and six assists.
Council followed up his opening game performance by leading all
players with 19 points in USC Aiken's narrow road loss to
Elizabeth City State on Saturday, Nov. 19. He hit seven of his
eight free throw attempts in the game. He also had four rebounds,
including three offensive caroms.
