AUGUSTA, Ga. – Four University of South Carolina Aiken
volleyball student-athletes were selected to the 2011 Peach Belt
Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team.
The announcement came from the league office in Augusta, Ga. on
Friday, Nov. 18, 2011.
The four Pacers honored for their achievements on the court and
in the classroom were Ashley Farwell, Chelsey Kight, Samantha
Lukralle and Claire Patten. Endea Ellison and Emily Maassen were
named Honorable Mention.
Kight ends her Pacer career as a three-time PBC All-Academic
selection. Farwell and Lukralle are now two-time honorees.
Farwell concluded her junior season with a team second-best 357
assists. She averaged 5.33 assists per set.
Farwell (Wake Forest, N.C./Wake Forest-Rolesville) was able to
secure 131 digs in the 2011 season.
In the classroom, Farwell owns a 3.85 grade point average as a
Business Administration major.
A senior, Kight played in 15 matches for the Pacers in the 2011
season. She played in 32 sets in total on the year.
Kight (Charleston, S.C./West Ashley) finished the year with 41
kills.
In the classroom, Kight boasts a 3.78 grade point average as a
Nursing major.

Women's Volleyball District Three First-Team, Lukralle
(Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) concluded the 2011 season leading
the Pacers in digs with 486. The Pacer libero averaged 4.76 digs
per set.
The junior ended her 2011 campaign with a school second-best
1,643 digs in her career. The total places her eighth in digs in a
career in Peach Belt Conference history.
A junior, Patten finished her junior season with a team
third-best 272 digs. She averaged 2.21 digs per set.
Patten (Boulder, Colo./Mercer) led the Pacers in the 2011 season
with 32 service aces.
In the classroom, Patten owns a 3.91 grade point average as an
Exercise and Sport Science major.
A sophomore Business Administration major, Maassen (Ellisville,
Mo./Marquette) owns a 3.5 grade point average. Ellison (Orange
Park, Fla./Episcopal), a sophomore Nursing major, boasts a 3.56
grade point average.
The Peach Belt Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team is part of a
season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of
PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To
be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have
1) participated in at least half of his/her team's events and
be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30
cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at
least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The
Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and
select the teams.
Founded in 1991, the Peach Belt Conference is home to 30 NCAA
Division II National Championships. The league features 13 member
institutions in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida
and Alabama that compete in 13 championship sports. The 2011-12
members are Augusta State University, Armstrong Atlantic State
University, Clayton State University, Columbus State University,
Flagler College, Francis Marion University, Georgia College,
Georgia Southwestern State University, Lander University,
University of Montevallo, North Georgia College & State
University, University of North Carolina at Pembroke and the
University of South Carolina Aiken.
