Byers and Lukralle Selected to PBC Volleyball All-Conference Team

AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball players Shannon Byers and Samantha Lukralle were both selected to the 2011 Peach Belt Conference Volleyball All-Conference Team on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011.

Both players were Second-Team choices.

The league office announced the All-Conference selections at a banquet on Saturday morning as part of the 2011 Peach Belt Conference Volleyball Championship at Christenberry Fieldhouse in Augusta, Ga.

The 2011 All-Conference team was selected by the league's head coaches. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Byers is now a three-time All-Peach Belt Conference selection. She was also a Second-Team choice as a freshman in 2009 and a First-Team selection as a sophomore in 2010.

Byers is now one of only five Pacer volleyball players to be named All-Conference three or more times. USC Aiken Athletic Hall of Fame member Kim Merrill is the only Pacer volleyball player to be named All-Conference four times.

Lukralle garners honors from the league for the second straight year as she was chosen the 2010 Peach Belt Conference Libero of the Year.

Both Byers and Lukralle were named to the 2011 Peach Belt Conference Preseason All-Conference Team.

Byers (Morristown, Minn./Faribault) concluded the 2011 season by leading the Pacers with 306 kills. She was second on the team in digs with 438 digs. Her kill and dig totals place her in the top 10 in both categories in the Peach Belt Conference.

Overall during the season, the junior averaged 2.45 kills and 3.50 digs per set. She finished the 2011 season with 16 double-doubles.

An outside hitter, Byers closes the 2011 season with 971 kills and 1,089 digs in her career.

Lukralle was recently selected to the Capital One Academic NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball District Three First-Team. In the classroom, Lukralle boasts a 3.95 grade point average as a Nursing major.

Lukralle (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) concluded the 2011 season leading the Pacers in digs with 486. The Pacer libero averaged 4.76 digs per set.

Lukralle's digs total is good for sixth in the Peach Belt Conference. She recorded 24 double-digit dig matches in the 2011 season.

The junior concluded her 2011 campaign with a school second-best 1,643 digs in her career. The total places her eighth in digs in a career in Peach Belt Conference history.

Armstrong Atlantic State's Brittany Wolf was named the PBC Player of the Year and Augusta State's Alex Rohlfing was chosen the league's Freshman of the Year. Flagler received two big awards as Casey Gnann was named the Libero/Defensive Specialist of the Year and Olivia Snipes the Setter of the Year.
