Pacers Fall to Clayton State on Senior Day

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team closed out its 2011 season on Saturday with a narrow 2-0 loss to Clayton State at the "Pacer Pit."

Prior to the start of Saturday's match, USC Aiken honored its lone senior, Megan Killmeyer (Fort Mill, S.C./Fort Mill).

USC Aiken controlled things statistically in the match. The Pacers owned a 12-11 shot advantage in the match, but despite a couple of great opportunities they were in the end unable to find the back of the net.

The Pacers owned a resounding 12-1 advantage in corner kick opportunities in the match.

Clayton State (9-6-2, 4-4-2 PBC) netted its first goal of the match in the 13th-minute when Natalia Valentine scored off a give-and-go with Josephine Holsten.

Valentine then scored again in the 32nd-minute off an assist from Dior McGruder.

USC Aiken closes out its 2011 season with a 4-12 (1-9 PBC) record.
