Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team could not overcome a strong Montevallo start in a 4-0 loss to the Falcons in Peach Belt Conference action at Varsity Field on Sunday afternoon.
Montevallo (6-2-2, 2-0-1 PBC) netted the first goal of the match in the eighth minute when Phil Jackson scored on a free kick.
The two teams would play close over the next 20 minutes before Montevallo was able to score again on a Giuliano Frano header off a Jackson free kick.
Montevallo would score again just over eight minutes into the second half when Jackson Tolleson scored off Jackson's second assist of the match.
Alex Morton scored the final goal of the match for the Falcons at the 65:18 mark.
USC Aiken (2-6-1, 0-2-0) managed only two shots in the first half, but the Pacers constantly pressured the Falcon net in the second half to finish with one more shot than Montevallo at 7-6 in the half. Overall, Montevallo owned a 13-9 shot advantage.
Montevallo took one more corner kick (4-3) than the Pacers in the match.
The Pacers will next travel to Pembroke, N.C. to face off against UNC Pembroke on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
