Late Goal Leads Lander to 1-0 Victory Over Pacers

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken defense held off Lander for most of the match, but a late goal was enough to lead the Bearcats to a 1-0 victory over the Pacers in Peach Belt Conference action at the Jeff May Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

Casey Black netted the Lander goal in the 84th-minute when she scored off an assist from Christina Barbour.

Lander (12-2-1, 5-2-1 PBC) finished the match with a 16-3 shot advantage. Lander owned a 10-1 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

Jenny Pineiro (Charleston, S.C./Fort Dorchester) led the Pacers in the match with two shots.

USC Aiken (4-9-0, 1-6-0 PBC) goalkeeper Alli Edens (Lexington, S.C. /College of Charleston) made six saves for the Pacers in the contest.

The Pacers will next close the week with a match against Columbus State on Saturday, Oct. 22 in Columbus, Ga. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
