USC Aiken Falls 1-0 to Flagler on Saturday Evening

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Flagler in Peach Belt Conference men's soccer action at the "Pacer Pit" on Saturday evening.

Joseph Toby netted the lone goal of the match for the visiting Saints of Flagler in the 35th-minute when he took advantage of a Zach Shanahan blocked shot. Toby picked up the loose ball from the blocked shot and promptly blasted the soccer ball into the back of the Pacer net for the goal that would eventually become the game-winner. 

The Pacers had their chances in the match, but in the end they would be unable to beat Flagler goalkeeper Camp Bissell, who saved two Pacer shots en route to his clean sheet.

Flagler (10-3-1. 5-1-1 PBC) finished the match taking 21 shots, while USC Aiken took 10 shots in the match.

The Pacers owned a 6-4 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

USC Aiken (3-7-3, 1-3-2 PBC) goalkeeper Robert Bolender (Kennesaw, Ga./Reinhardt) saved six Flagler shots in the match.

The Pacers will next travel to Greenwood, S.C. for a match with Peach Belt Conference rival Lander at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19.
