Box Score VALDOSTA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken
women's soccer team fell 1-0 to first-time foe Valdosta State in
non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at the VSU Soccer
Complex.
The USC Aiken defense was able to hold the Blazers scoreless for
the first 63 minutes, but in the 64th-minute Valdosta
State's Rebecca Miller broke through to score what would eventually
become the game-winning goal. The goal was Miller's third of the
year.
Valdosta State (9-3) owned a 19-2 shot advantage and a 7-0
corner kick advantage in the match.
Jenny
Pineiro (Charleston, S.C./Fort Dorchester) and Jordan Ziegler
(Lexington, S.C./White Knoll) took the two Pacer shots in the
match.
USC Aiken goalkeeper Alli Edens (Lexington,
S.C. /College of Charleston) saved eight Blazer shots in the narrow
Pacer loss.
USC Aiken (4-7) will next close the week with a home match
against Flagler on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the "Pacer Pit." The match
is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
