USC Aiken Baseball Acquires Second Preseason Ranking

College Baseball Lineup NCAA Division II Preseason Top 30

OMAHA, Neb. – The University of South Carolina Aiken picked up its second preseason national ranking on Wednesday with the Pacers earning the 30th spot in the 2011 College Baseball Lineup NCAA Division II Preseason Top 30.

USC Aiken was ranked 20th in the 2011 Collegiate Baseball Newspaper NCAA Division II preseason poll.

The Pacers are one of four Peach Belt Conference teams ranked in the College Baseball Lineup (formerly Ping!Baseball) preseason tally. Francis Marion is the highest ranked PBC squad, coming in at No. 9. Georgia College is ranked 13th, while Columbus State is just behind at 16th.

UC San Diego is the College Baseball Lineup preseason favorite. Defending NCAA Division II National Champions Southern Indiana is ranked second in the preseason poll.

The USC Aiken baseball program has won 30 or more games in each of the last 10 seasons, while also having played in five of the last six NCAA Division II Tournaments. The Pacers finished the 2010 season with a 32-19 overall record.

USC Aiken will commence the 2011 regular season with 18 consecutive home games.

For the seventh straight year, USC Aiken will play its first three-game series of its season against Lincoln Memorial. The Pacers and Railsplitters will begin their season-opening three-game set at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4 at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. The series will conclude with two single 1 p.m. games on Saturday, Feb. 5 and Sunday, Feb. 6.
