Brown's Triple-Double Helps Pacers Snap Losing Streak

Box Score

AIKEN, S.C. – Alvin Brown broke the Peach Belt Conference record for blocked shots in a single game and finished with the third triple-double in school history in USC Aiken's 76-71 victory over Peach Belt Conference rival North Georgia on Monday evening at the Convocation Center.

Brown (Fort Washington, Md./James Madison) finished his incredible night with 13 blocks, 13 points and 10 rebounds.

His 13 blocks eclipsed the previous USC Aiken and Peach Belt Conference record of 12 blocks in a game that was formerly held by USC Aiken Hall of Famer Derek Moore, who swatted 12 shots in a contest with Coastal Carolina on Dec. 5, 1998.

Brown's triple-double marked the first time that a Pacer had secured a triple-double in a single game since Moore acquired 16 points, 12 blocks and 11 rebounds in the Coastal Carolina game. Moore had two triple-doubles in his career as he also concluded a game with Augusta State on Feb. 17, 1996 with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocks.

The triple-double Brown ended Monday's victory with marked the first time that a Peach Belt Conference player had finished with a triple-double since Aaron Clark of Georgia College had 19 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in a contest against Columbus State on Feb. 7, 2007.

USC Aiken in total ended its victory over North Georgia with 14 blocks as a team as Michael Technow (Boca Raton, Fla./American) also added a block of his own. The 14 blocks as a team in the game tied the Peach Belt Conference record for total blocks in a contest. Columbus State also picked up 14 blocks as a team in a game with UNC Pembroke on Jan. 16, 2010.

Brown was one of four Pacers in double figures in the win over North Georgia.

USC Aiken's Jesse Seilern (Innsbruck, Austria) ended his night with a game-high 21 points. Seilern knocked down five three-pointers en route to his career-best 21 points.

Chase Holmes (Chesnee, S.C./Presbyterian) was not far behind Seilern with 18 total points on 6-of-11 shooting.

The final Pacer in double figures was Byron Faison (Sumter, S.C./Crestwood). Faison had 11 points in the Pacer victory.

Three North Georgia players secured double digits with Carl Taylor leading the way with 20 points.

In total, USC Aiken finished its win shooting 47.7 percent (21-for-44). The Pacer defense held North Georgia to just 34.8 percent (23-for-66) from the field.

The Pacer win snapped a season-long four-game losing streak. USC Aiken is now 10-6 (4-5 PBC) on the 2010-11 season. North Georgia dropped to 3-10 (0-4 PBC) with the loss.

The contest featured 12 lead changes with the score tied seven times. North Georgia owned the halftime lead at 28-24. The Pacers outscored North Georgia 52-43 in the second stanza to garner the win.

The Pacers led by as many as 16 in the second half.

USC Aiken will next hit the road for a Peach Belt Conference road game against Lander at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22. The game is the second game of a men's and women's PBC basketball twinbill in Greenwood, S.C. with the 18th-ranked Pacer women scheduled to take on the second-ranked Lander women prior to the men's game at 1:30 p.m.

Both of the games will be able to be followed live on USC Aiken's official athletic website at www.PacerSports.com.
