USC Aiken Drops Road PBC Match to Ninth-Ranked Armstrong Atlantic State

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. – On a very wet and rainy day, the University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team fell 6-0 to ninth-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State in Peach Belt Conference women's soccer action at Devaul Henderson Park.

The loss drops USC Aiken to 2-6 overall on the 2010 season. The Pacers are now 0-3 in PBC action. Ninth-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State with the victory improves to 6-0-2 overall (4-0 PBC).

Erin Holt scored the opening goal in the match in the fourth minute on an assist from Erin O'Rourke. The score would remain 1-0 in favor of Armstrong Atlantic until the 35th-minute when Jordan Otto was assisted from Holt for the Pirates' second tally of the match. The score would remain 2-0 Armstrong Atlantic State at intermission.

Otto would score her second straight and give the Pirates a 3-0 advantage at the 64:36 mark. She was assisted on the goal by Andye Dawson. Under a minute later, the Pirates were able to notch another on the scoreboard to set the score at 4-0. Nadima Skeff acquired the fourth goal of the match for Armstrong Atlantic State.

Armstrong Atlantic State's Katie Jesser scored another for the Pirates just under 10 minutes later at the 75:18 mark. Jesser scored her second of the match and the sixth of the contest a few minutes later in the 80th-minute on an assist from Nettie Perkins.

The Pirates outshot the Pacers 26-4 in the match, while Armstrong Atlantic held a slight 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. The Pirates were offside 11 times in the contest.

The Pacers will next travel to St. Augustine, Fla. to square off against PBC rival Flagler at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2. The match will be able to followed live on USC Aiken's official athletic website at www.PacerSports.com.
