AIKEN, S.C. – The 2011 University of South Carolina Aiken
baseball team will hold its annual Major League Baseball Scout Day
on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.
"Scout Day is always an interesting day," said
Thomas. "It puts the players under a little different type of
pressure and also instills into them the importance of the five
tools of baseball, running, fielding, arm strength, hitting and
power.
"The scouts love it because they can get an individual
workout on each player grading those tools. The Major League Scouts
love coming here to USCA for this day; it's always a fun day,
a day of accomplishment and a day they get their bellies full. We
have a great dinner at the end of the day that is filled with
highlights of the day and of course many old baseball
stories."
The USC Aiken Scout Day will feature the Pacer baseball players
going through a variety of situations, while showing the scouts
what they can do whether it be on the mound, hitting or fielding.
Last year, a record 17 Major League Baseball Scouts attended USC
Aiken's Scout Day.
The USC Aiken Major League Baseball Scout Day is part of USC
Aiken's unique Cardinal/Navy fall baseball schedule. The
Pacers will play 16 intra-squad scrimmages during the fall as part
of the schedule.
All of the fall baseball games are scheduled for nine innings
with the atmosphere during the fall contests at Roberto Hernandez
Stadium similar to regular season games in the spring.
The games will be free and open to the public.
