Pacers Drop Road Match to Anderson

Box Score

ANDERSON, S.C. – The USC Aiken men's soccer team fell 6-1 to Anderson on Wednesday evening in non-conference men's soccer action at Trojan Field.

The loss keeps the Pacers winless at 0-5-1. Anderson with the victory improved to 4-3-1 on the 2010 season.

Anderson's win avenged USC Aiken's 3-2 regular season-ending victory over then 13th-ranked Anderson at the "Pacer Pit" during the 2009 season.

Playing in his first match since USC Aiken's season-opening loss to Limestone at the "Pacer Pit," USC Aiken's Troy Watson (Kingston, Jamaica/Montreat) collected the Pacers' lone tally in the contest on a penalty kick in the 27th-minute.

Anderson kicked off its scoring in the match at the 7:10 mark when James Moseley scored on a header off a corner kick. Less than 10 minutes later, the Anderson lead was 2-0 when Clement Samson notched the first of his two goals in the match.

Watson's goal cut the Anderson lead to just one at 2-1, but from there four unanswered Anderson goals would prove to be too much for the visiting Pacers.

Samson put one more in at the 35:23 mark to send the two teams into the locker rooms with the score 3-1 in Anderson's favor.

Lasse Sohrweide would score twice for the Trojans in the second half before Daniel Bowers closed out the night's scoring in the 75th-minute to set the final score at 6-1 in Anderson's favor.

The game was called with 4:20 remaining in the contest due to inclement weather.

Anderson held a 23-6 advantage in shots and a 10-4 lead in corner kicks.

The Pacers will close out their week next against Anderson's South Atlantic Conference rival Newberry at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25 at the "Pacer Pit." The match can be followed live on USC Aiken's official athletic website at www.PacerSports.com.
