2010-11 Golf World/Nike Preseason Coaches'
Poll
NEW YORK, N.Y. –The USC Aiken men's golf team will
enter the 2010-11 year as the 23rd ranked team in the
nation after the release of the NCAA Division II Golf World/Nike
Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Pacers received 86 points in the preseason poll. USC Aiken
is one of four Peach Belt Conference teams ranked in the top
25.
Georgia College & State is the highest ranked team in the
PBC, coming in at No. 6 in the preseason poll. Lander is just
behind in 12th, while Columbus State is ranked
16th in the preseason poll. Defending NCAA Division II
national champion Florida Southern is ranked No. 1 in the preseason
poll.
The USC Aiken golf team ended last year by finishing in the top
10 as a team in five tournaments over the course of the 2009-10
season. Ranked as high as 10th nationally, the Pacers closed out
their year by finishing second at the Peach Belt Conference
championship.
The University of South Carolina Aiken golf team will open its
2010-11 campaign by playing host to the Kiawah Island Invitational
on Monday, Sept. 6 and Tuesday, Sept. 7.
The seventh annual, two-day Kiawah Island Invitational will be
contested at the 6,875 yard, par 72 Cougar Point Golf Course.
Designed by Gary Player, the course was rated at "4.5 stars" by
Golf Digest.
The tournament will be a two-round, 36-hole event (18 each day).
Action is slated to get underway at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept.
6.
USC Aiken has won the event three times before (2004, 2005 and
2008).
