Final Results
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The 23rd-ranked University of
South Carolina Aiken golf team concluded the Third Annual Maryland
Intercollegiate at the par 71, 6,801-yard River Marsh Club at the
Hyatt Regency Resort in 13th place as a team.
The Pacers ended the final round by carding their best team
round of the tournament with a 294. The 294 in the third and final
round left USC Aiken with a three-round team tally of 895
(302-299-294).
Two Pacers finished in the top 35 in the Maryland
Intercollegiate with Mark Dickson
(Edinburgh, Scotland/Firrhill) leading the way with a
27th place finish. Dickson carded a three-round score of
220 (71-73-76). Kyle Godsman
(Moray, Scotland/Lossiemouth) was not far behind Dickson in
32nd with a three-round score of 222 (76-74-72).
One stroke behind UNC Wilmington after the first two rounds,
Penn State shot nine strokes better than UNCW in the third round to
claim the title at the Third Annual Maryland Intercollegiate. Penn
State finished with a total three-round team score of 844
(280-281-283). UNCW was second at 852 (280-280-292), while Xavier
was in third place at 856 (287-284-285).
Penn State's Michael Miller acquired individual medalist honors
at the event with a three-round score of 207 (70-68-69). Miller
bested second-place finisher Max Marsico (208) by one stroke.
USC Aiken has almost a month off from competition before next
closing its fall campaign by playing in the Southeast Region
Preview at the Tanglewood Park Golf Club in Clemmons, N.C. The
tournament will be contested Oct. 17-19.
