AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken
men's basketball head coach Vince Alexander announced the
field for the 2010 Conoco Phillips and Quality Energy Services USC
Aiken Pre-Holiday Classic on Thursday, Sept. 16.
The 2010 Conoco Phillips and Quality Energy Services USC Aiken
Pre-Holiday Classic will be contested at the USC Aiken Convocation
Center on Thursday, Dec. 16 and Friday, Dec. 17.
The extremely competitive field will feature NCAA Division II
powers Mount Olive, Shaw and Virginia Union along with the
Pacers.
The 2010 Conoco Phillips and Quality Energy Services USC Aiken
Pre-Holiday Classic will get underway on the 16th at
5:30 p.m. with Virginia Union and Mount Olive squaring off on the
hardwood. Immediately following the conclusion of the first game at
approximately 7:30 p.m. the Pacers will take the court against
Shaw.
The second day will open with Mount Olive playing Shaw at 2:30
p.m. USC Aiken and Virginia Union will play the final game of the
2010 Conoco Phillips and Quality Energy Services USC Aiken
Pre-Holiday Classic at 4:30 p.m.
The USC Aiken men's basketball program has won a
school-record 72 games over the last three seasons. The 72
victories over the three-year span are the most in the Palmetto
State among all levels of college basketball.
Under the guidance of Alexander, USC Aiken has become a national
force in NCAA Division II over the past three seasons.
In addition to the victories, the 2007-08 USC Aiken men's
basketball team won the Peach Belt Conference Regular Season
Championship and the 2008-09 Pacer men's basketball team
advanced farther than any other squad in program history to the
NCAA Division II “Sweet Sixteen.” The 2009-10 USC Aiken
men's basketball team claimed the Peach Belt Conference
Tournament Championship.
USC Aiken will begin its 2010-11 season with a home exhibition
against Southern Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 11. USC Aiken will
commence its regular season just under a week later with a 7:30
p.m. game against Voorhees at the Convocation Center on Nov.
