Box Score BREVARD, N.C. – The USC Aiken women's soccer team acquired
its first victory of the 2010 season with a 2-1 win over Brevard on
Wednesday afternoon at BC Soccer Field.
USC Aiken with the victory improves to 1-2 on the season, while
Brevard drops to 2-3 on the year.
The two teams entered halftime with the score knotted at
0-0.
After Brevard captured the first goal of the game in the
59th-minute, USC Aiken's Paige Busby (North
Augusta, S.C./North Augusta) netted the Pacers the equalizer in the
game at the 67:05 mark on an assist from Jenny Pineiro
(Charleston, S.C./Fort Dorchester).
Pacer freshman Brittany Moores
(Blythewood, S.C./Blythewood) scored the eventual game-winner in
the match less than five minutes later at the 72:03 mark. Moores'
second goal in as many matches came on an assist from fellow
freshman Alex
Cohen (Evans, Ga./Greenbrier).
USC Aiken controlled the majority of the play in its win over
Brevard as the Pacers held a dominating 18-5 shot advantage.
Brevard held a slight 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
USC Aiken will next travel to Salisbury, N.C. to square off
against Catawba on Saturday, Sept. 18. Kick-off in the match is
slated for 2 p.m.
