AIKEN, S.C. – Former University of South Carolina Aiken
men's basketball standout Jeremy Fears signed a professional
contract with PBG Poznan in Poland earlier this week.
This is Fears' fourth professional contract in Europe. In
2008-09, Fears played with the Kapfenberg Bulls of the Austrian
Bundesliga A Division. He was the top player for Kapfenberg last
year, averaging 18.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.0
steals per game in the Austrian First Division.
Fears played for two leagues in Europe last season, starting
with DEKE of the Hungarian A Division before signing with a
professional team in Slovakia. Fears averaged 23 points per game
during his short stint in Hungary. He placed nearly 22 points per
game on the board during his time in Slovakia.
In his only season at USC Aiken in the 2007-08 season, Fears
averaged 17.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game in
helping the Pacers to a Peach Belt Conference championship and a
trip to the NCAA Division II Tournament. The 6-foot-5 Chicago,
Ill., native played in 27 games, starting 19. He was named
First-Team All-Region and All-Conference.
Fears is one of five former Pacers currently playing
professional basketball.
