AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken golf
coach Michael Carlisle announced the signing of Hayden Letien to a
National Letter of Intent on Tuesday, April 20.
Letien is the second golfer from Sumter High School to sign with
the Pacers this season, joining high school teammate and future
college teammate Brian Amick, who inked with the Pacers during the
early signing period in November of 2009.
“I am extremely excited about my opportunity to play golf
for USC Aiken,” said Letien. “I believe it will be a
great fit to further my education and golf career. I am also very
excited to play for a proven college golf program and such an
experienced coach.”
Letien joins the USC Aiken golf program with a resume that
features some impressive performances such as a Runner Up finish at
the South Carolinas Junior in 2008. He recorded a second round 66
in the tournament. Just one year earlier in 2007, Letien finished
in the top 10 at the National Big I Tournament in Boise, Ida. He
had the low tournament round of the event with a 68.
He is also strong in the classroom at Sumter High School where he
is a member of the National Honor Society. He is currently in the
top 10 in his graduating class.
Letien joins a historically rich program that has three national
championships under its belt (2004, 2005 and 2006).
