Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate Packet
AIKEN, S.C. - USC Aiken's nationally-ranked golf team will play
host to the 13th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate on
Monday, March 8 and Tuesday, March 9 at the historic Palmetto Golf
Club.
The home of Pacer golf, the Palmetto Golf Club was founded in
1892 and it is recognized as the fourth oldest golf course in the
United States.
The 13th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate will
feature a 6,565-yard, par 70 setup at the Palmetto Golf Club. The
first two rounds of the tournament will be played on Monday, March
8. The 54-hole tournament will conclude with a single round on
Tuesday, March 9.
The 13th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate will
feature some of the top programs in all of college golf with Akron,
Clemson, Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, College of Charleston,
East Carolina, Elon, Francis Marion, Furman, Georgia Southern,
Liberty, Mercer, Presbyterian, UNC Wilmington, USC Aiken, Winthrop,
Wofford and Virginia all participating in the tournament.
USC Aiken is the defending champion of the annual event. The
Pacers, who led wire-to-wire in the 12th Annual Cleveland Golf
Palmetto Intercollegiate, have won four of the last five Cleveland
Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate titles (2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009).
Liberty's Robert Karlsson is the defending individual champion in
the event. Karlsson carded a three-round score of 209 (67-73-69) to
obtain individual medalist honors at the tournament.
The 13th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate will begin
with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Monday, March 8.
