Pacers Remain Perfect in PBC With 27-Point Road Win Over Flagler

Box Score

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team once again utilized a total team effort to remain perfect in the Peach Belt Conference in a 69-42 victory over Flagler on Saturday afternoon.

The Pacers had ten players score in the 27-point victory to improve to 8-2 overall on the 2010-11 season. USC Aiken is now 2-0 in the Peach Belt Conference. Flagler (2-3, 0-1 PBC) dropped below .500 for the first time on the year with the loss.

As has been the case for the majority of the season, USC Aiken jumped on their opponent early by opening the game on a 15-3 run over the first four and a half minutes.

The Pacer lead would be in double digits for most of the rest of the half with the Pacers entering intermission with a 38-20 lead.

Nakia Pinkney (Orangeburg, S.C./Orangeburg-Wilkinson) scored the first bucket of the second half to push the Pacer lead to 20 points at 40-20.

The Pacer lead would never be less than 20 points in the second stanza with the Pacers going up by as many as 33 points in the final half before settling on the 27-point victory.

The major story in the game was not just the balanced and potent Pacer offense, but the stifling Pacer defense as the Pacers forced Flagler into 26 turnovers. USC Aiken scored 37 points off the 26 turnovers.

USC Aiken's defense allowed Flagler to knock down just 14 field goals in the entire game. The Saints shot 34.1 percent (14-for-41). No Flagler player collected double figures in the game.

The Pacer offense connected on 44.8 percent (26-for-58) of their shots overall in the resounding victory.

USC Aiken was led by two players with 12 points each with Hannah DeGraffinreed (Raleigh, N.C./Merrimack) and Daniela Tarailo (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) both netting the double figure total.

The Pacers now have a full week off to focus on exams.

USC Aiken will next look to remain perfect in the PBC with a road game against Columbus State in Columbus, Ga. on Saturday, Dec. 11. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. The game will be able to be followed live on USC Aiken's official athletic website at www.PacerSports.com.
