Box Score COLUMBIA, S.C. – Behind a double-double from Myles Holley, the seventh-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken men's basketball team pulled away in the second half for a 15-point 76-61 road non-conference victory over Benedict at HRC Arena.
In a game that was tied 33-33 at intermission, USC Aiken outscored Benedict 43-28 in the second stanza to garner the 15-point win.
The victory over Benedict improves USC Aiken to a perfect 3-0 on the young 2010-11 season. Benedict falls to 0-2 on the year.
Holley (Norfolk, Va./Nebraska) finished the win over the Tigers with 17 points and 10 rebounds. He shot 50 percent from the field and collected five of his 10 boards on the offensive glass. Holley also had three blocks in the Pacer win.
Holley was one of three Pacers in double figures in the game with Byron Faison (Sumter, S.C./Crestwood) and Kenny Manigault (Summerville, S.C./Wichita State) both netting double figures. Faison hit seven free throws in the game, while Manigault was a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe.
Three Tigers ended their night in double figures with Kennie Eberhart leading the way with 22 total points. He was 11-for-12 from the free throw line.
USC Aiken as a team concluded Tuesday's night victory shooting 41.5 percent (22-for-53). The Pacer defense held the Benedict offense to just a 33.9 percent (20-for-59) shooting performance from the field.
The Pacers hit upon five of their 10 three-point attempts (50 percent) in the contest, while Benedict was just 1-for-19 (5.3 percent) from beyond the arc.
The Pacers will stay on the road next for a game against NAIA power Life University in Marietta, Ga. on Saturday, Nov. 27. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. The game will be able to be followed live on USC Aiken's official athletic website at www.PacerSports.com.
