Pacers Rebound by Easily Picking Up Road Win Over Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team rebounded from its first loss of the year earlier this week by easily besting Limestone 64-51 on Saturday afternoon at the Timken Center.

The victory over Limestone on Saturday improves USC Aiken to an impressive 3-1 just four games into the 2010-11 season. Limestone with the loss to the Pacers on Saturday falls to 2-1 on the year.

USC Aiken opened the game by scoring the first 13 points of the contest to hold a 13-0 lead with 14:58 remaining in the first half. The Pacers took a 37-18 lead into halftime.

Things would not change in the second half with USC Aiken never allowing Limestone closer than double digits with the 13 points settled at the final score being the closest that the Saints were able to get in the final half of action.

USC Aiken as a team concluded Saturday's victory shooting 45 percent (23-of-51). The Pacer defense in turn held Limestone to just 36 percent (19-of-53) shooting from the floor.

The Pacers and Saints both knocked down five three-pointers in the game, but USC Aiken was more proficient with USC Aiken connecting upon 42 percent (5-for-12) of their attempts. Limestone took 25 three-point attempts, but were only able to hit the five (20 percent).

USC Aiken was 13-for-16 (81 percent) from the free throw line, while Limestone was 8-of-15 (53 percent).

The Pacers finished the contest with two players recording double figures.

Hannah DeGraffinreed (Raleigh, N.C./Merrimack) led the Pacers in the game with 18 points. She also had six rebounds. DeGraffinreed was 6-for-12 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe.

Kayla Harris (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield) was the other Pacer in double figures with the freshman scoring 14. She was 6-for-9 from the field in the game.

Limestone had just one player in double figures with Maria Young scoring 11.

The USC Aiken women's basketball team will stay on the road next for a contest against NCAA Division I College of Charleston on Monday, Nov. 22 in Charleston, S.C. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
