Pacer Women's Soccer Ends Season with Draw to Georgia College

Box Score

AIKEN, S.C. – For the final time in the 2010 season, the University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team took to the pitch ending their final Peach Belt Conference match of the season with the score knotted at 1-1 against the Bobcats of Georgia College at "Pacer Pit" Wednesday night.

With the tie, USC Aiken ends their 2010 campaign with a final record of 5-11-2 and 0-8-2 in PBC action while Georgia College moves to 7-6-2 overall and 4-3-2 in league play.

Neither team was able to take control of the game early as the first 40 minutes passed by scoreless with each team taking the ball up and down the field. USC Aiken broke through in the 41st minute to take the 1-0 lead as Madeline Fellabom (Mount Pleasant, S.C./Wando) headed the ball into the lower right side of the net past a pair of Bobcats off a corner kick by fellow freshman Alex Cohen (Evans, Ga./Greenbrier).

The Pacers took the 1-0 lead into halftime, but the Bobcats came out firing in the second half as they tied up the game early with their first goal in four games. Haley O'Harer scored her first collegiate goal in the 52nd minute off a rebound in the box to knot the score at one all.

The game continued into two overtime periods with the score still knotted before the Pacers appeared to have the game-winner. In a play exactly matching the Pacers' score in the first half, Fellabom almost won the ball game in the second overtime with another header once again off a corner kick laid up by Cohen, but Georgia College netminder Mary Rob Plunkett made an impressive save between the pipes to end the match tied.

The teams were tied up with 17 shots each while Georgia College ended the tilt on the pitch with two more corner kicks than the Pacers (7-5).

USC Aiken honored its five seniors prior to the final match of the 2010 season.
