Pacer Men Unable to Hold Off Patriots

Box Score

AIKEN, S.C. – A late goal ruined the University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team's final home game of the 2010 campaign in their Peach Belt Conference match Wednesday night at the "Pacer Pit" as the Pacers fell 1-0 to the visiting Patriots of Francis Marion.

USC Aiken now falls to 1-10-2 overall and 0-6-1 in PBC action while Francis Marion improves to 6-8-1 and 3-4 in league action for the 2010 season.

The match's lone goal came in the 82nd minute when Francis Marion's Chris Foltanski crossed a ball across the box to the waiting boot of Justin Kibler who ripped the ball into the back of the net.

Despite the loss, USC Aiken out shot Francis Marion a whopping 17-7 and controlled the corner kicks 7-2.

At halftime, USC Aiken honored lone senior Zachary Davis (Ocala, Fla./Vanguard) for his efforts to the Pacer men's soccer program over the last four years.

USC Aiken will close the curtains on their 2010 regular season and Peach Belt Conference slate with a PBC road-tilt in Americus, Ga. against Georgia Southwestern on Saturday, Oct. 23. The Pacers will take to the pitch against the Hurricanes at approximately 3:30 p.m. shortly after the women's game.
