Furious Second Half Charge by Pacers Not Enough in 2-0 PBC Loss to Flagler

Box Score

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The USC Aiken women's soccer team mounted a furious second half charge, but it would not be enough in a 2-0 loss to Flagler in Peach Belt Conference women's soccer action on a rain-soaked Saturday evening at Saints Field.

The loss to Flagler drops the Pacers to 2-7 on the 2010 season. The Pacers are now 0-4 in PBC play. Flagler with the victory improves to 4-4-1, which includes an even 2-2 record in PBC action.

Flagler scored its first goal of the match in the 36th-minute when Amanda Slevin was able to score off a Hannah Linton corner kick. The goal was the first of the season for Slevin.

Just over two minutes later in the 38th-minute, Flagler was able to produce another goal when Taylor Adkins scored her first goal of the year. She was assisted by Tara Whitaker.

The Pacers came out firing in the second half in hopes of getting itself back into the contest. USC Aiken did just that, controlling play in the second stanza. Despite outshooting Flagler, 10-7, in the second half, USC Aiken would still be unable to acquire a goal.

The match ended with Flagler clinging to a 15-11 shot advantage. The Saints held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks in the match.

Alli Edens (Lexington, S.C./College of Charleston) played all 90 minutes between the pipes for USC Aiken in the match. Edens made six saves.

USC Aiken returns home next for a PBC contest against UNC Pembroke at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6. The match will be able to be followed live on USC Aiken's official athletic website at www.PacerSports.com.
