Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – Behind a hat trick from freshman Alex Cohen,
USC Aiken put together a furious come-from-behind rally in the
final 15 minutes to defeat Anderson 4-1 in non-conference
women's soccer action on Monday evening at the "Pacer
Pit."
USC Aiken entered the final 15 minutes of Monday's victory
over Anderson down 1-0.
Freshman Katie Bevacqua (Goose Creek, S.C./Stratford) placed the
Pacers back in the mix in the contest in the 75th-minute
when she blasted in a shot from 25 yards out.
From there the match turned into the Cohen show as she scored
the first of her three tallies on the evening just three minutes
later on a rocket shot off her left boot from 20 yards out.
Cohen (Evans, Ga./Greenbrier) scored 10 minutes later to make
the score 3-1 in favor of the Pacers. Cohen obtained the
opportunity when a Brittany Moores (Blythewood, S.C./Blythewood)
shot ricocheted off the post into her waiting foot. Cohen then
calmly placed the ball into the back of the net.
Cohen acquired her first career hat trick with a goal at the
88:27 mark. She was assisted once again by Moores.
Anderson scored the first goal of the match just over a minute
before intermission when Korrin Kelly blasted a shot into the lower
left corner to leave the visiting Trojans with a 1-0 lead at
halftime.
USC Aiken finished with nine more shots than Anderson in the
match at 17-8. The Pacers held a dominating 6-1 advantage in corner
kicks.
The resounding victory over Anderson on Monday improves the
Pacers to 3-10-1 on the 2010 season. Anderson with the loss dropped
to 6-9-1 on the year.
