AIKEN, S.C. - It is time to "Think Pink." USC Aiken volleyball
is raising funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure for
breast cancer research where they will be hosting a "Dig for the
Cure" event on Thursday, Oct. 1.
It all begins at 6 p.m. with a silent auction.
Various businesses throughout the area have donated items for the
auction, proceeds from which will go directly to the Susan G. Komen
Foundation for the Cure. Donations for the auction will be accepted
until Sept. 30. Winners will be announced at half-time during the
match.
The Lady Pacers will play against Augusta State at 7 p.m. for this
"Pinktastic" event. Come out and cheer for the Lady Pacers in their
match against their rival. Not only will you get some great
entertainment, but you will also have many opportunities to win
prizes. There will be numerous giveaways in addition to the
traditional Domino's Serve for Pizza Contest, which will be held at
the end of the match.
Maureen Simpson, director of the Aiken Choral Society will sing
the National Anthem before the first serve of the game. Simpson's
mother was a victim of breast cancer, and the cause is close to her
heart.
T-shirts for this special event are being donated by Jim Hanna and
they will be available for only $10 - 100% of the proceeds will go
to Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure. Any other donations for
the Lady Pacers' cause are greatly appreciated.
