The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams
AIKEN, S.C. - USC Aiken's Chijioke Agbasi and Svetlin Penchev
were both chosen to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic
All-District III Men's Soccer Second Team.
The 2009 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's
Soccer teams were released today by the Collegiate Sports
Information Directors of America.
A sophomore defender, Agbasi (Lagos, Nigeria/St. Gregory's
College) currently owns a 3.93 grade point average as a Math and
Computer Sciences major. A senior defender/midfielder, Penchev
(Sopot, Bulgaria/PGM Vladiuk Zalinov) also owns a 3.93 grade point
average as a Business Administration major with a concentration in
Accounting.
Agbasi has played in 15 matches for the Pacers in 2009. He has
one goal on the season as he netted the final tally of USC Aiken's
4-0 win over St. Andrews last week. The goal was the first of his
career.
Penchev has appeared in eight matches for the Pacers in 2009. He
has one assist.
The Pacers concluded the 2009 regular season with three
consecutive wins, which includes a regular season-ending 3-2
victory over 13th-ranked Anderson.
The Pacers with the win over nationally-ranked Anderson finished
the 2009 regular season with a 7-10-1 record. The Pacers, who are
2-6 in the Peach Belt Conference, are not done yet as USC Aiken
will next play in the opening round of the 2009 PBC Men's Soccer
Tournament.
The Peach Belt Conference Tournament opens on Tuesday, Nov. 3
with the top eight teams playing at the higher seed. The final four
will advance to the PBC Tournament Championship to be contested
Nov. 6-8 at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga.
