Box Score 3 ANDERSON, S.C.--USC Aiken (13-3) hit .362 in three matches en route to a perfect 3-0 record at the Anderson University Regional Crossover this Friday and Saturday at the Abney Athletic Center. The Lady Pacers blanked Barton (30-13, 30-10, 30-15), North Greenville (30-17, 30-14, 30-10), and the host Anderson Trojans (30-17, 30-22, 30-28) by 3-0 scores. (PHOTO BY: Brandon Underwood)
USCA has not lost since September 1, running their win streak to nine-straight matches, the best such stretch since the 1996 squad won 10 in a row.
For the tournament,
Mandy Gerolstein, the Peach Belt Conference's leader in hitting percentage at .400, hit .554 averaging 3.89 kills per game to go with 1.00 blocks.
Amanda Timm hit .435 while chipping in 3.00 kills per game and 0.75 service aces per set.
Missy Deardorff and
Jasmine Edney each hit over .350 for the weekend.
In the 3-0 blanking of Barton (1-12) on Friday evening, USC Aiken attacked at a .329 clip including an impressive .625 hitting percentage in game two's 30-10 victory. For the match, Gerolstein and Edney each had seven kills.
On Saturday morning, the Lady Pacers made quick work of North Greenville (2-16) behind 15 kills, two blocks, and a .619 hitting percentage from Gerolstein. Edney added 10 kills and four blocks while
Stefanie Durham and
Christina Greene chipped in six kills a piece.
Lauren Cedeno recorded 27 assists and three aces while
Veronica Seidle registered 17 digs.
Completing the tournament sweep, the Lady Pacers knocked off the host Trojans of Anderson (8-10) in three games. Deardorff tallied a match-high 14 kills to go with four blocks and 13 digs to lead USCA. Gerolstein added 13 kills and four blocks while Timm had 12 kills and three service aces.
USC Aiken will have 10 days before their next action, traveling to Charleston, S.C. on Tuesday, October 2 to face a pair of Division I opponents in The Citadel and Savannah State at 3:00 and 5:00 PM respectively.
