Box Score AIKEN, S.C.-- Behind a gaudy .500 team hitting percentage, USC Aiken (23-4, 9-0 PBC) rolled to a dominating 3-0 win over rival Augusta State (16-17, 2-7 PBC) on Friday night in Peach Belt Conference volleyball action at the Convocation Center.  Game scores were 30-19, 30-24, and 30-15.  Winners of 19 of their last 20, USCA remains perfect at home and in the PBC with their ninth-straight victory over the Lady Jaguars.  The Lady Pacers improve to 32-6 all-time against ASU.  (PHOTO BY: Scott Webster)

A remarkable 27-3 in individual games versus conference foes in 2007, the Lady Pacers have won 22-straight games dating back to a 3-1 decision at Lander on September 22.

Senior middle hitter Mandy Gerolstein showed once again why she is the best player in the Peach Belt Conference, registering 16 kills with no errors on just 20 attacks for an .800 hitting percentage.  The Millersville, Md. native is ranked ninth in Division II in hitting percentage and raised that number to .408 on the season.

Stefanie Durham added 13 kills, four blocks, and two aces for 17.5 total points from her outside hitter position, hitting .500.  Jasmine Edney was the third Lady Pacer in double figures in kills with 10 to go with team-highs in blocks and digs--both with seven.  Sophomore setter Lauren Cedeno dished out 47 assists.

Augusta State led early in game one 8-4 on three kills by Amy Hunt.  USC Aiken countered with six-straight points to charge in front 10-8 and would not trail again.  The Lady Jaguars pulled within three on a USCA service error, but an 8-2 run capped by back-to-back Gerolstein kills made it 24-15 as the Lady Pacers won going away 30-19.

Game two remained competitive through the middle stages before USCA scored four of the next five points at 22-19 to build a 26-20 cushion, winning 30-24.

In game three, a decisive 13-3 run turned a 3-2 deficit into a commanding 15-6 advantage as Augusta State never threatened and USC Aiken won 30-15.

Jessica Howard paced the Lady Jaguars with 16 kills and a .375 hitting percentage.  Hunt finished with nine kills and one ace while Jessica Lowes recorded 31 assists and directed the offense to a .167 hitting percentage.

Having already clinched the outright 2007 Peach Belt Conference Championship, the Lady Pacers will host Armstrong Atlantic State tomorrow at 3:00 PM for "Senior Day".  USCA will go for its first undefeated conference season in 15 years.  Augusta State will also close out the regular season tomorrow at 3:00 PM as they travel to Greenwood, S.C. to face Lander.
