Box Score AIKEN, S.C.--After having their eight-match win streak halted on Saturday, the USC Aiken Lady Pacers (10-3) responded with a dominating 3-0 win over visiting Converse College (4-4) on Tuesday night in women's non-conference volleyball action. Game scores were 30-14, 30-25, and 30-15. The Lady Pacers improve to 5-0 at "The Courthouse" thus far this season, having won 15 of 16 games during the span.
Senior
Jenny Lloyd again led the way for USC Aiken with 14 kills, 10 digs, two aces, two blocks, and a .478 hitting percentage. As a team, the Lady Pacers hit .305 while holding the All-Stars to a negative .082 percentage.
Freshman
Veronica Seidle added 10 kills and hit .350 collecting 11.0 points. Freshman
Mandy Gerolstein and junior setter
Rachel Dalitz each chipped in 10.5 points. Gerolstein had three solo blocks while Dalitz served up six of the team's 13 aces. Sophomore
Brandy Johnson tied a career-best with six kills on eight attacks for a .625 hitting percentage.
Lauren Mueller highlighted Converse's play with five kills and five blocks for 9.0 points and a .400 hitting percentage. Monica Wallace added four kills, three blocks, and three of the team's five aces.
In game one, with the score 13-8 in favor of the Lady Pacers, USCA reeled off 12 of the next 13 points to take a commanding 25-9 advantage. Dalitz had three of her four first game aces during the run as the Lady Pacers closed out the game 30-14. Seidle, Gerolstein, Johnson, and freshman
Missy Deardorff each had three kills in the game.
Game two proved to be the most competitive as the two teams saw the score tied at three, six, 12, 17, and 21. A 7-0 run, however, broke open a 28-21 USCA lead as they held on for the 30-25 win. Dalitz added two more aces during the decisive run while Lloyd tallied seven kills in the game.
Fans witnessed quite an amazing display in game three as USCA rattled off 17-straight points on the strength of Seidle's serve. A 7-4 game erupted into a 24-4 lead for the Lady Pacers. During the run Seidle had two aces, Lloyd had three kills, and Gerolstein recorded three kills and two blocks.
USC Aiken will now hit the road for four-straight matches beginning next Tuesday, September 21 at Presbyterian. Start time is set for 7:00 PM in Clinton, S.C. USCA defeated PC 3-0 in Aiken back on August 31.
