Box Score PEMBROKE, N.C.--USC Aiken failed to score for the second consecutive game, and the fourth time in its last five matches, as UNC Pembroke defeated the Lady Pacer soccer team, 2-0, today in Pembroke, N.C. Erin Rowley's goal 25 minutes into the game proved to be all the Lady Braves would need on their way to improving to 8-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play. USCA falls to 1-6-2 in 2004 and remains winless in PBC action at 0-3-0. 

UNC Pembroke goalkeeper Hillary Helms wasn't tested the way USC Aiken keeper Shannon Hobbs was, but none the less Helms will get credit for the shutout. Hobbs faced nine shots on goal and saved seven of them in 90 minutes of action. In Helms' 90 minutes of play, the Lady Brave never had to make a save as the USC Aiken offense failed to put a shot on goal.

UNCP held a 24-3 advantage in shots and an 8-1 edge in corner kicks. Katie Stokes, Kelly Jones and Bridget Morton each recorded four shots for the Lady Braves. Melanie Byars, Nitza Maldonado and Jodi Kulinitch had one shot apiece for USC Aiken.

On UNC Pembroke's first goal, Rowley took a cross from Jones and tapped in the goal. Stokes provided the Lady Braves insurance at the 65:39 mark when she scored unassisted off of a free kick.

The Lady Pacers will have a week off of game action before traveling to Morrow, Ga., next Saturday to face Clayton College & State University. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
