Box Score MOUNT OLIVE, NC—Coming off a 14-day period in which the USC Aiken women's soccer team did not play a match, one might wonder if they would be a bit rusty. The Lady Pacers (2-1-0), however, proved that to be false with a convincing 3-1 win over Mount Olive College (0-4-0) in non-conference women's soccer on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman
Melissa Schnoering's two first half goals gave USCA a 2-0 halftime lead. The 5-8 native of Corpus Christi, Texas, has four goals in three games for the Lady Pacers. Her first of the match on
Saturday came in the 25th minute as she beat Mount Olive goalkeeper
Heather Ressler one on one.
Schnoering added her second goal just four minutes before intermission.
The Lady Trojans got on the board in the 47th minute on a successful penalty kick by
Charity Pearson. But
Brittney Pelt netted her first goal of the season in the 57th minute for some insurance.
Sophomore
Shannon Hobbs recorded three saves on four shots for the win.
Due to a lack of players for Mount Olive, USC Aiken played the entire match two players down to create a fair balance of play at 9-on-9.
USC Aiken concludes its six-game road swing on Wednesday, September 25 at Lander. The Peach Belt Conference match is set to begin at 4:00 PM.
