Box Score AIKEN, SC--USC Aiken's women's soccer team defeated Newberry College, 4-0, tonight in Aiken, S.C. The game was suspended due to lightning at the 77:55 mark, however, it was declared official because the teams played past the required 70 minutes. USCA improved to 8-5-3 on the season, while Newberry dropped to 5-14-0.
Four different players scored in the shutout for the Lady Pacers. Freshman
Melissa Schnoering started things off with her team leading ninth goal of the season almost 16 minutes into the game.
Jodi Kulinitch followed, 10 minutes later, with her eighth goal of the season. She was assisted by
Andrea Lloyd.
Five minutes before the end of the first period,
Amy Myers notched her first goal of the season and gave the Lady Pacers a 3-0 halftime lead.
Senior
Kelley Shemansky closed out the scoring for the Lady Pacers at the 63:18 mark.
USCA out shot the Lady Indians, 28-1.
Schnoering led the way for USC Aiken with five shots.
Shannon Hobbs played the first period in goal for the Lady Pacers and
Amber Markley played the shortened second period to combine for the shutout.
Markley faced the lone Newberry shot and came up with the save.
The Lady Pacers have two games remain on their regular season schedule. They will play Wingate on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at the "Pacer Pit" on the USCA campus. On Saturday USC Aiken will host fellow Peach Belt Conference team Clayton State at 5:00 p.m.
