AIKEN, SC--The 14th ranked Lander University Senators (8-1-0, 2-1-0) were led by goalkeeper Matt Shirley and midfielder Steven Sprinkle as they defeated USC Aiken men's soccer team (4-5-0, 1-3-0) 4-0 Wednesday night in Peach Belt Conference action.

Shirley recorded eight saves on the Pacers' 15 shots.  Meanwhile, Sprinkle scored the game-high two second-half goals and assisted on another in the first half.

The Pacers kept Lander scoreless until the 38th minute when Scott Montgomery scored on an assist from Mihko Kotilainen.Kotilainen then recorded a goal from Sprinkle to end the first half.

Sprinkle and Kotilainen switched ends of the score in the second half with Kotilainen assisting on the play.  The Senators finished the scoring with Sprinkle from Richard Proctor.

In a physical match, the two squads combined for 44 fouls on the night, and USCA had two yellow cards.

USC Aiken has a week off until their next game on Wednesday, October 3 when they host Southern Wesleyan at 7:00 PM.
