Lightning Doesn’t Hamper USC Aiken Men’s Soccer

PEMBROKE, N.C. – Despite a 90-minute weather delay in the first half, the USC Aiken men's soccer team held on to defeat UNC Pembroke 2-1 in Peach Belt soccer action Saturday, Oct. 6.

Plaman Peev scored his first goal of the season on an assist from senior Paul Okumu at the 10:24 mark in the opening half.

The Pacers sustained the one-goal lead into the second half when Stephen Ademolu connected on a rebound for UNCP to tie the game at one. But Andre Joseph's lone shot in the 68th minute proved to be the difference as it hit the back of the net behind Braves' goalkeeper Alex Hall.

Peter Calabrese reeled in seven saves on 16 shots while only allowing the one goal for the Pacers.

The win brings USCA's record to 6-5 and 2-3 in the PBC; the Braves' record drops to 4-5-1, 0-3.
