AIKEN, S.C. – Freshman
Rey Hernandez scored two goals to help the USCA men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Belmont Abbey College on Tuesday in Aiken.
Hernandez found the back of the net just 16 minutes into the game (assisted by
Brian Wilson) and then in the 81
st minute found an open goal for his second goal of the game (assisted by Wilson and
Richard Wolf). The goals marked the first two on the season for Hernandez.
The victory marked the first in the past three games for the Pacers (2-3) and dropped Belmont Abbey to 3-2 on the season.
Belmont Abbey tried to mount a comeback in the 85
th minute as CJ Zaworski scored, but junior goalkeeper
David Walker held the Crusaders to just one. Walker finished the game with seven saves.
For the game the Crusaders outshot USCA 18-14.
The Pacers will travel to Milligan College on Saturday at 4 pm and then on Wednesday get back into Peach Belt play at Augusta State.
