Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – The No. 15 Francis Marion Lady Patriots came into Aiken on Wednesday and showed why they are nationally ranked as they controlled the ball almost the whole game to go on to win 4-1 over USC Aiken.
The Lady Patriots improve their record to 10-3 and the Lady Pacers fall to 8-2.
Francis Marion got off to a fast start as Kerri Williams found Trina Withrow in the first 10 minutes of the game to take a 1-0 lead. Then, at the 24
th minute Susie Harris hit the left corner of the net to score her sixth goal of the season and gave FMU a 2-0 lead. The score stayed 2-0 at the halftime break. For the first half the Lady Patriots outshot USCA 15-3.
USC Aiken came out ready to play in the second half as they had six shots on goal. Then, in the 68
th minute sophomore
Christy Cousins took a shot that deflected off the FMU's goalkeeper, Joanna Rish, and sophomore
Heather Lakatos was there to tap it in for her sixth goal of the season. Lakatos' goal made the score 2-1 in favor of FMU.
Francis Marion did not let down as they connected on two more goals in the next 12 minutes to hold the victory. The Lady Patriots outshot USCA 26-9 for the game.
