AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken head
softball coach Jerry Snyder announced the addition of three junior
college transfers to the 2013 Pacer softball roster on Tuesday,
July 3.
Two players will join the Pacer roster after helping Aiken Tech
to the 2012 National Junior College Athletic Association World
Series. Another will join the USC Aiken softball program out of
Florida State College of Jacksonville.
Alyssa Cook joins the Pacer softball program as a catcher/first
baseman out of Aiken Tech. The St. Leonard, Md. native was a
two-time NJCAA First-Team All-Region choice (2011 and 2012). She
was also chosen as a NFCA and NJCAA Academic All-American in both
2011 and 2012.
She enters USC Aiken owning a 3.95 grade point average.
"We have watched Alyssa grow while playing at Aiken Tech, and we
are very excited to add her to our roster,” noted Snyder.
“She brings a strong left-handed bat to our lineup and can
play multiple positions."
An outfielder/utility player, Jennifer McKellar, a native of
Surrey, British Columbia, also joins the Pacers out of Aiken
Tech.
McKellar was a First-Team All-Region selection in the 2012
season. She was also tabbed a NFCA and NJCAA Academic All-American
in 2012.
McKeller also enters the Pacer softball program owning a 3.95
grade point average.
"Jenny is another well-rounded utility-type player,” said
Snyder. “She can contribute at many different positions and
we expect her to compete for playing time right away."
Marisa Oldaker is a pitcher/utility player out of Florida State
College of Jacksonville. The Swansea, S.C. native closed out her
prep career at Swansea High School where she was a multi-year
All-State selection.
During her time at Florida State College of Jacksonville,
Oldaker was a First-Team All-Mid-Florida Conference selection.
Oldaker's older brother, Terry (2008-10), was a member of
the USC Aiken baseball team.
"Marisa is the classic utility player,” remarked Snyder.
“She can pitch, play infield and outfield all at a high
level. We expect that Marisa will be able to contribute in many
different positions this year. She has blazing speed and is an
offensive threat everytime she steps in the box."
The trio joins a USC Aiken softball team that compiled a 26-17
record in the 2012 season. The 26 wins marked the 18th time in the
last 19 seasons that the Pacers have earned at least 20
victories.
USC Aiken went 10-10 in Peach Belt Conference play and went to
the semifinals of the Peach Belt Conference Softball Tournament by
defeating rival Augusta State 3-0 in the quarterfinals.
Kaitlyn White and India Kornegay were honored to the Peach Belt
Conference Softball All-Tournament team for their performances.
Kornegay, who broke numerous school single-season and career
records during the 2012 season, also earned a Peach Belt Conference
Softball All-Conference Second-Team selection.

selected to the Peach Belt Conference Softball All-Academic
Team.
