University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball standout Alie Smith has been named the Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 15, 2017.

Smith, a freshman from St. Johns, Fla., guided the Pacers to a 4-0 week. She accounted for four double-double efforts.

Smith notched a career-high 20 digs in the win over Tusculum and posted match-high accolades for kills on three occasions and tallied team-high honors for kills in the other victory.

She registered 3.53 kills per frame, including 5.33 in the win over Lincoln Memorial. For good measure, Smith totaled six aces and dished out eight assists for the week.

The Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week honors one student-athlete each week from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort.
