Determined. Humble. Successful. Tough. Those are just a few of the words that can be used to describe redshirt-junior Brielle Jungblut.

A native of Riverside, N.J., Jungblut arrived on campus via Thomas Heyward Academy in Ridgeland, S.C.

A multi-sport standout in high school, Jungblut arrived on campus as a student – not a student-athlete. However, that changed after a short time at USC Aiken as she missed the sports setting. 

After talking with the players on the team and coach Snyder, Jungblut walked onto the team prior to her freshman season. She promptly garnered PBC Freshman of the Week honors after hitting .625 for the week on Feb. 25, 2014. 

Jungblut had a stellar season, finishing second on the team with a .375 batting average while sporting a .405 on-base percentage. 

Everything looked to be going well for the standout student-athlete, but she missed the 2015 season after being ruled ineligible. Despite hitting what Jungblut describes as rock bottom, she turned her life around and much like the Phoenix rose to unprecedented heights.

Jungblut has been sensational academically since her one bad semester. As good as she’s been in the classroom, she has also excelled on the field. In 2016, her ESPN highlight-reel worthy catch in the upset of No. 18 Lenoir-Rhyne was just a glimpse at how special she could be. Jungblut has solidified her place in the outfield and has thrived in her major, taking on extra projects to gain interviewing experience in front of the camera.
