Every student-athlete faces challenges. Sometimes it’s early on in a career, sometimes it’s near the end of one’s prime. However, not all student-athletes face the adversity that USC Aiken student-athlete Rachel Romeo faced.
As a standout high school student-athlete, Romeo started garnering national attention on the recruiting stages from schools such as Maine and Boston College. If it weren’t for an injury she suffered, PacerNation may not know of Romeo.
When other schools turned away from Romeo and started recruiting other student-athletes, former head coach Sue Vodicka made a lasting impact on Romeo. Even with a coaching change, Romeo knew that USC Aiken was the place for her.
After talking with head coach Hilary George and deciding to redshirt as a freshman so she could recover fully, Romeo has had an impact on the Pacers already in 2016.
This year, Romeo has played in all five matches and registered her first career point on an assist in the win at Oglethorpe.
