Pacer Women Seventh, Pacer Men Ninth in First Tennis Southeast Region Rankings
INDIANAPOLIS – The University of South Carolina Aiken tennis teams are both in the top-10 in the inaugural NCAA Division II Tennis Southeast Region Rankings.
The region rankings were released by the Southeast Region selection committee. The rankings are used to determine the region participants from the Southeast Region for the 2012 NCAA Division II Tennis Championships.
Eight teams from the Southeast Region will receive an invitation to the NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis Championship. An automatic bid is given to the winner of the Peach Belt Conference, the South Atlantic Conference and Conference Carolinas. The next five highest ranked teams will earn an at-large berth into the national tournament.
Nine teams from the Southeast Region will receive an invitation to the NCAA Division II Men’s Tennis Championship. An automatic bid is given to the winner of the Peach Belt Conference, the South Atlantic Conference and Conference Carolinas. The next six highest ranked teams will earn an at-large berth into the national tournament
The USC Aiken women (12-6) are seventh in the first region tally of the year, while the nationally 33rd-ranked Pacer men (8-6) are ranked ninth.
The USC Aiken men and women will next close out their regular seasons with two Peach Belt Conference matches.
The Pacer men and women will first welcome Georgia College to the USC Aiken Tennis Complex for their final home match of the year at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14.
USC Aiken will then close the curtains on its regular season with a road league men's and women's tennis match against Georgia Southwestern in Americus, Ga. on Sunday, April 15. The matches are set to begin at 2 p.m.
