Pinkney Chosen South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week

AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball player Nakia Pinkney was selected as the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week on Dec. 19, 2010.

Pinkney led the 25th-ranked Pacers to a perfect 2-0 record last week by averaging a team-best 17 points and three rebounds per game.

In USC Aiken's dominating home win over Shaw on Dec. 14, Pinkney finished with 16 points in 17 minutes on the floor. She also had three rebounds and one assist.

The Orangeburg, S.C. native closed out the week by concluding USC Aiken's second win of the year against Lenoir-Rhyne on Dec. 16 with 18 points. Pinkney had three rebounds and one steal in the game.

In the two Pacers wins, Pinkney shot 50 percent (10-for-20) from the field. She was 5-for-9 (55.6 percent) from beyond the arc.

The Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School product shot 82 percent (9-for-11) from the free throw line in the two Pacer victories.
