Pacers in Second After Two Rounds of Play at PBC Championship

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The nationally 18^th-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken golf team is in second place as a team after the first two rounds of action at the 2012 Peach Belt Conference Men's Golf Championship at the 7,057-yard, par-72 Mountain View Golf Course at Callaway Gardens.

USC Aiken picked up the team round of the day in Monday's second round with a 287. The second round score allowed the Pacers to finish the first two rounds with a team cumulative tally of 582 (295-287).

The Pacers' two-round score of 582 places USC Aiken just three strokes behind current leader UNC Pembroke (288-291). Georgia College is in third at 584 (293-291).

Three Pacers are currently tied for sixth individually with Matt Atkins (Owensboro, Ky./Henderson State), Gaines Milliner (Aiken, S.C./Aiken) and Taylor Welborn (LaGrange, Ga./Darton) all posting a two-round score of 145.

A First-Team All-Peach Belt Conference selection, Atkins shot a 2-under 70 in round one before carding a 75 in the second round. Atkins finished his opening round on Monday with six birdies.

Milliner opened with a 73 before posting an even 72 in round two. Welborn commenced his day with a 76 in round one. Buoyed by six birdies, Welborn then shot a 3-under 69 in the second round.

All-Peach Belt Conference selection JP Solis (Morelia, Mexico/Lico Morelia) is presently tied for 12^th at 147 (76-71). Hayden Letien (Sumter, S.C./Sumter) is tied for 33^rd at 154 (77-77).

Flagler's Joel Dahlenburg is the individual leader after the first two rounds with a 4-under two-round score of 140 (73-67).

The third and final round of the Peach Belt Conference Men's Golf Championship will be contested on Tuesday, April 10.
