Technow Becomes Fourth to Sign with Pacers
– USC Aiken head men’s basketball coach Vince Alexander
announced on Wednesday, June 3 that Mike Technow would be
transferring from NCAA Division I American University to play for
Technow will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Technow joins three others who have already signed to play for USC Aiken in the offseason. He is the third NCAA Division I transfer for the Pacers, joining former Winthrop guard Byron Faison and Oklahoma forward Kyle Cannon. The trio of Pacer newcomers will be joined by true freshman Re’Mon Nelson out of Canal Winchester High School in Canal Winchester, Ohio.
“Mike will be a tremendous asset for our basketball program,” remarked Alexander. “He is a tremendous student-athlete who will compete for playing time immediately. His size and athletic ability will help us immensely. We feel that he could be a very explosive player for us and be one of the better players in the Peach Belt Conference in the near future.”
The 6-foot-9 center/power forward played in just four games for American last year, but coming out of Boca Raton High School in Boca Raton, Fla. he was a highly touted prospect.
Technow averaged 13.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 5.5 blocks per game as a senior at Boca Raton, leading his high school team to an 18-7 record and the No. 1 seed in the tough 6A District of Florida.
Strong in the classroom, Technow graduated 29th in his high school senior class.
Technow joins a USC Aiken men’s basketball program that under the guidance of Alexander has become a national force in NCAA Division II over the past couple of seasons.
The Pacers have won a school record 52 games over the last two years with the 2007-08 USC Aiken men’s basketball team winning the Peach Belt Conference Regular Season Championship and the 2008-09 Pacer men’s basketball team advancing farther than any other squad in program history to the NCAA Division II “Sweet Sixteen.”
The Pacers have been especially strong in the friendly confines of the Convocation Center where they are currently 27-1 during the regular season over the past two seasons.
USC Aiken is
19-1 against PBC opposition during the regular season inside the
Convocation Center since it opened its doors prior to the start of
the 2007-08 season.
