Each week throughout the 2017 USC Aiken baseball season, the sports information office will produce weekly notes.
Moon Launch
In the sixth inning against Emmanuel,
Zach Moon pounded a pitch that went high over the wall. The round-tripper marked the eighth of the season for Moon and the 31
st of his USC Aiken career.
Morlan's Strong Showing
Jamie Morlan put forth a strong effort in his starting role against Emmanuel. He worked five innings, giving up just one earned run on seven hits. Morlan struck out a pair of Lions and did not walk any.
Westerberg's Big Day
Luke Westerberg had a big day against Emmanuel. The right fielder got the starting nod and was one of two that did not come out of the starting line-up. Westerberg responded by notching three singles, driving in three runs and scoring twice. For good measure he drew a pair of walks.
Hubbard's Throwing Some Heat
Senior
Hunter Hubbard was one of a handful of pitchers to see action on the mound against Emmanuel. Hubbard worked the seventh frame and promptly struck out two batters while forcing the other into a groundout.
Cantrell Can Close
After Emmanuel registered four runs in two-thirds of the ninth inning last week,
Blake Cantrell came in and registered the final out of the game for the Pacers. His work allowed the Pacers to move to 19-4 on the season, which marked the program's best start in the Division II era.
Big Week Ahead
After dropping three games last week, USC Aiken has four tough road games this week. The squad will try to even the season series at North Greenville Wednesday evening. Then, the Pacers hit the road for one of their toughest rivals by playing at Lander. Last season, USC Aiken went 4-2 against the Bearcats, but they won the last two outings, which came in the NCAA Tournament.
