Mathias Degardin has been an outstanding student-athlete during his time at USC Aiken. The junior has exceeded expectations throughout his two-plus years on campus.
Degardin, a junior from Bourgoin-Jallieu, combined for 26 singles wins in his first two seasons with the squad.
After playing in the lower half of the line-up as a freshman, Degardin stepped up and played the entire season in the upper half of the line-up for USC Aiken a year ago. The result was outstanding as he compiled 14 wins in singles play, which was the second most on the team.
Midway through his junior season, Degardin has battled injuries but has still performed strong. Recently, he knocked off two nationally ranked opponents, including one in the top-10.
Degardin is already on the verge of garnering a spot in the singles career top-10 list at USC Aiken – and he could do so this year. With another year left, Degardin could climb into the top five spots.
Brielle Jungblut recently sat down with Degardin to discuss his career.
